I still remember that Tuesday lunch when we gorged over our Lechon sandwiches while discussing. Our topic was about what could be our next “potential” project, while we were also wrapping up our new mobile game that time. Election was the hype that week for some reason so we talked about our Presidential candidates and slowly shifted to different game genres and finally, to clicker games. Jed was the first one who mentioned Vote Clicker. Having experienced working on Donut Clicker a while back, I immediately thought of copying Donut Clicker’s crowdsourced scoring and applying it to online votes. Eventually, Vote Clicker was born and we found ourselves working (and having fun) on this project since November 2015.
In case you haven’t tried, Vote Clicker is a mobile game where you submit votes for the candidate you are rooting for. It’s a Clicker game where you tap your mobile phone’s screen to generate funds and you use these funds for upgrades and eventually use these upgrades to earn votes for your candidate. The votes are submitted online and consolidated per candidate. The Presidential candidate with the most online votes by May 2016 wins! We specifically chose the clicker mechanic because of it’s simplicity and it’s addictiveness.
