Promoting your newly-built game can be a real pain in the arse but with the right guidance, you’ll soon be seeing your title become the talk of the town in no time. Here Popsicle Games offers four easy tips for marketing your game.
Know your audience.
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” –Sun Tzu
Half of the battle is knowing your product, your own game, and half is knowing your target audience. Which age range is your title most suitable for? Are you going for the casual gamers or the hardcore ones? Identify your target audience by gathering information and looking at your existing analytics.
2. Utilize your social media channels.
The word is actually ABUSE instead of UTILIZE. Social media marketing is one of the best FREE marketing tools out there. Share your game to Facebook groups, find the right hashtags on Twitter, and post creative photos of your works on Instagram. Reach out to your socials!
3. Make your materials relatable.
Whether it’s the hardcore market you’re targeting or the casual ones, make sure your content is something that everyone can relate to. This way, your promotional materials will get shared more easily and word will spread out with less effort coming from your end.
4. Set up your very own community.
